Frequently Asked Questions

SASMO (Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad) is one of Asia’s largest and most prestigious math competitions. Created in 2006, it aims to stretch students’ logical reasoning, creativity, and problem-solving abilities beyond the standard school curriculum.

Students from Grade 1 to Grade 11 are eligible to take the SASMO Olympiad. The exam is designed with grade-appropriate questions, ensuring fair competition at every level.

SASMO challenges students with creative, non-routine math problems, helps benchmark skills internationally, improves logical thinking, and boosts academic confidence. Recognition through SASMO medals and awards also enhances your child’s academic profile.

The SASMO exam is 90 minutes long and consists of two sections:

  • Section A: 15 multiple-choice questions (2 marks each, with negative marking).
  • Section B: 10 non-routine questions (4 marks each, no negative marking).
The total score is 85, with all students starting at 15 points to avoid negative totals.

Preparation includes regular practice with past SASMO papers, mock tests, expert guidance, and problem-solving strategies. The Talent Scholar’s SASMO training program and SASMO mock test series are tailored to help students perform at their best.

Yes! The Talent Scholar offers timed SASMO mock tests, complete with instant scoring, answer keys, and live discussions to simulate the real exam and improve readiness.

SASMO includes non-routine, concept-based math problems that test critical thinking, creativity, and logic. The difficulty level is above the school curriculum but adapted to each grade.

SASMO awards include:

  • Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals
  • Perfect Score Award with a cash prize
  • Distinction Certificates for top 40% performers
  • Participation Certificates for all candidates

You can register through your school if they are affiliated, or directly online through the official site olympiadindia.in, and students can join from anywhere in the world.
